The Wilderness Road Regional Museum invites visitors to experience Newbern’s history. Volunteers offer tours with historical interpretation, and special days are scheduled throughout the year when visitors can inhabit for a bit the daily life of those in early Newbern.
In Spring 2015, the Museum will host a living history event and drill day presented by a local Civil War Reenactment Group, the 45th VA Infantry. The public will be invited to stop by the museum and step back in time to witness a Confederate camp, infantry drills, and demonstrations.
One of the museum’s upcoming projects will focus on the barn on the museum grounds, which is to be converted into a classroom setting for teachers to bring their students for hands-on history learning.
The museum’s goal is to make local history come alive so that these stories of wagon roads and pioneering may be forever valued and cherished, one experience at a time.
